July 2006
The first ever Laurent-Perrier Design Talent Award was presented by David Hesketh MW, Managing Director of Laurent-Perrier UK, at the Laurent-Perrier new design gallery at the Daily Telegraph/House & Garden Fair opening ceremony (29th June). sixixis, a fledgling design company consisting of three design graduates from Cornwall proudly accepted the prize of £1,000 and a trip to Champagne, France, for their innovative chaise longue, curly light and lounge daddy, all made out of steam bent Cornish ash. The Laurent-Perrier Design Talent Award - in association with Hidden Art (a not-for-profit organisation supporting and promoting new designers) was created especially to celebrate the Laurent-Perrier Brut Non Vintage being the Official Champagne of the Fair and the company’s continuing support within the British design community. The winner was selected from 17 Hidden Art designers, by a panel of judges including author and curator Max Fraser, David Dewing director of the Geffrye Museum, and David Hesketh, MD of Laurent-Perrier. All short-listed designs were displayed in the Laurent-Perrier new design gallery at the Fair. David Hesketh MW, commented “Laurent-Perrier is delighted to strengthen its public association with design through the Daily Telegraph/House & Garden Fair 2006 and we are delighted to be giving sixixis the first ever Laurent-Perrier Design Talent Award. They are innovative and talented designers with an exciting future ahead of them.” Laurent-Perrier Champagne’s association with design continues apace later this year with the announcement of the third Laurent-Perrier Design Award on 28th September 2006 in association with Design Nation’s Eureka, a project that bridges the gap between designer, manufacturer and retailer.
